Top 3 Computer BrandsDecorations – Many major party supply store chains carry baby shower decorations and tableware to fit this event theme, however, you might want to get creative and make some one of kind additions to your shower decorations. To set the mood, purchase twinkle lights, star shaped lights, or even moon/star shaped lanterns to hang around the party space. Consider purchasing several yards of shear blue fabric to drape across the ceiling to echo the sky. You can even purchase wool stuffing to place within the fabric to mimic clouds. (Please note: If you are having your event at a hall or other location, you should check with them first to see the extent of the decorations near the ceiling they will allow, as this might interfere with lighting or fire prevention systems). Use dark blue table cloths and scatter confetti style stars over the tables.
Centerpieces – There are several fun ways to make the centerpieces the star of your moon and star themed shower. You can have a literal take on the theme and have a moon and star candles floating in crystal bowls. Or you take a more whimsical approach to the theme and base a vignette at each table around a moon/star themed nursery rhyme like Hey Diddle Diddle or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Games/Activities – You can easily purchase traditional baby shower games (like Baby Shower Bingo designed with a moon and star motif) but there are also creative ways to incorporate this theme into the fun activities you have planned for your shower. For example, set a timer for 3 minutes and have your guest list as many nursery rhymes with the words moon and star in them as they can think of. This also works great with lullabies. The guest with the longest list wins. Make you prizes match the theme too. Try giving your guests night time hand lotion and spa gloves.
Wishing Well – For a cute and practical activity for the mommy-to-be, make your wishing well bedtime story themed. Have your guests bring in bed time story books with the word moon in the title, such as a classic like “Good Night Moon” or “Who stole the Moon?”

Dessert – While your baker is sure to be able to accommodate your moon and star theme and incorporate it into a traditional sheet or tiered cake, this theme makes it really simple to make a DIY cake. For example, you can bake a round cake and simply trim the outside line of the cake to a crescent shape. Ice with yellow frosting and dust with yellow sugar for a shimmering effect. Cover a large cake board with aluminum foil and plate your moon cake. Bake cupcakes to accompany your larger cake. Frost the cupcakes in vanilla frosting and pile on marshmallows before serving. Arrange your fluffy cloud cupcakes artfully around your moon.
With the numerous ways you are able to incorporate the moon and star theme into your baby shower, it is easy to make it a shining part of your little one’s bright beginning. And don’t forget to continue your theme by giving your guests memorable baby shower favors!
Planning a baby shower is easier said than done. The food and menu should be decent, the music should be fun, and your guests should be comfortable in your party area. Even the decorations should be well-thought out. The list does not stop here. Even cake wordings should be taken notice of. Baby shower cake wording is, in fact, one of the most difficult components of baby showers.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Gifts

Baby shower cake wording is important because this serves as a welcoming message to the baby. This is also one way of congratulating or saying wishes to the expecting parents. It can be your way to make the parents feel special about the new addition to their family. Therefore, it is only right that you carefully pick out the words in your cake.
One tip I can give you is to keep the message simple. Limit it to one-liners as making a poem will take much of the space in the cake. But if you have a large cake, by all means create a beautiful poem that is worth sharing. You can also get your wording from nursery rhymes if you want. Or better yet, be original. This is much better as it comes from the heart. Here are some examples of baby shower cake wordings:

3 Fun Indoor Activities For Kids
free.
Toddlers love music. Many babies will begin to dance to music
before they’re even a year old. There are many great CD’s out
there for toddlers. A couple of our favorites are Wee Sing Silly
Songs and Veggie Tales. Nursery rhymes are always great too. We
have found many CD’s at yard sales or half price at stores that
sell used CD’s. My boys enjoy dancing to music during the day,
and like to have it playing softly in the background while they
go to sleep. Make sure to put your CD player up out of their
reach. I have to get a shelf to put mine up on the wall because
my boys can now climb up to anywhere else I have found to put it.
They have become very fascinated with taking CD’s in and out of
it and pushing all of the buttons!
My boys love to play with water. I bought them a wading pool
this year but they were hardly interested in it at all. They
much preferred playing in a little sprinkler in the shape of a
turtle. Bath time is also a favorite time. They hardly play
with any of the bath toys I bought them. Their favorite bath
toys are small Tupperware containers and plastic measuring cups.

The store-bought bath toys they do enjoy, however, are little
plastic cups that have holes in the bottom so that the water runs
through them. They also love going to the river and throwing
rocks in the water. Just don’t let them out of your sight for a
second, or they will quite suddenly decide to go for a swim.
Swimming lessons seem to have done a great job of eliminating
their fear of water! The boys also spend hours playing in a
small water fountain we have in our back yard.
Books are great for even the most active boys. We bought many
board books for our boys and read to them for months before they
really showed an interest in them. When they were about 15
months old they began to bring us books to read to them. One of
our boys is obsessed with cars, trucks, and tractors, and the
other one loves animals. After seeing these images over and over
in books they now are pointing them out to us when we drive
around town. One of our sons goes nuts every time we drive by an
excavator or back hoe. One word of caution, however. Whoever
said board books are indestructible didn’t know what they were
talking about. Our boys have destroyed several of their board
books by ripping the pictures off the cardboard. Most of the
damage is done when they are reading to themselves in bed, so
these books need adult supervision just like any other book.
Make sure you take your boys outside at least once a day. Every
morning I take the boys for a walk around the neighborhood in
their double stroller. If you are a working mom, take your boys
out for some fresh air in the evenings or on the weekend. The
boys enjoy the ride and mom gets some exercise too.

One of my
sons points out all the airplanes that fly overhead, and that is
one of the highlights of his day. I also found the boys a play
golf set at Walmart (for about $5). They love to run around the
yard trying to hit the plastic golf balls, and it is great for
improving their coordination.
My boys’ favorite toys are their cars, trucks, and tractors.
They love pushing them around on the floor and making motor
noises. You can easily find inexpensive toy cars at yard sales
and thrift stores that will give your toddler boys hours of fun.
To fully interact with and engage your toddler, you have to
figure out their personality. One of my boys loves to help mom
and do whatever I’m doing. Whenever I ask him to help me do
something he gives me a big smile and pitches right in. My other
son has no interest whatsoever in helping me…boring!! He has
too many other exciting things to explore. To get his attention
I ask him to show me what he is doing and participate in whatever
is interesting him at the moment. He loves to point at things
and have me tell him what they are.
Don’t forget that your boys love to play with mom and dad and

Celebrity Product Placement: A PrimerIf they are frustrated because they want something that they may not have, redirect their attention to another activity. Eventually, with the proper training, a toddler will grow out of this phase and learn more effective ways to deal with frustration than becoming upset.
The 17-month-old can probably say about 15 words. She may even be able to put two words together. The 17-month-old likes to climb on things like furniture. She may not know what is safe to climb on and what isn’t, so she will need constant supervision. At this phase of development, separation anxiety and stranger danger issues are starting to lessen. Your toddler may be able to play simple games and follow simple instructions. She will also have enough strength and coordination to be able to ride toys developed for that purpose. Your toddler may be able to run at this age, which enables her to play more types of games, but makes supervision a bit more of a challenge for both parent and caregiver alike. She may decide that she likes some types of foods, but is not interested in or doesn’t like others. And you can bet that she will definitely let you know what she will and won’t eat. Since she is eating a variety of foods and has developed quite a few teeth, now is a good time to introduce brushing her teeth. You and your toddler can brush your teeth together and start setting some great dental hygiene habits.
The 18-month old may be able to talk more clearly. He can say about 20 words, and might be able to string words together to make small, two word sentences. He can scribble and have fun with crayons or pencils and paper. Your 18-month-old can probably run, jump, and dance around. He may also be able to feed himself with a spoon, making meal times a bit less messy. Your 18-month old should be getting used to brushing his teeth at this age, as well. He may also be able to take of clothing, and show signs of being ready to be potty trained.

As everyone knows, toddlers are always on the move and full of energy. While normal play is a natural stage in the development of your child’s gross motor skills, you may also need to have him participate in activities that can help to tune in his fine motor skills.
Gross motor skills are those that involve basic movements, such as walking and jumping. Fine motor skills are those that deal with the small movements that are executed with precision and usually involve the fingers, hands, and wrists. One way that you can help your child to develop these skills is to play with building blocks. By stacking these items, your child will learn to carefully place one block on top of the other. This exercise can also help to build his decision-making skills, as he will need to plan how to place the blocks to build the design that he wants.
Allowing your child to perform simple tasks for himself can also help to develop his fine motor skills. Working with him and teaching him how to button his shirt and work a zipper are excellent ways to give him practice at performing precision tasks. You can also allow him to help you with certain household tasks, such as folding washcloths. The folding process will also require your child to plan his movements in order to fold a cloth into a square.

Helping in the kitchen and feeding himself is also excellent ways in which you can help your child to develop his fine motor skills. His coordination will be tuned as he learns to put food on a spoon and to aim it towards his mouth. Allowing him to butter his own toast can also help to develop the precision movements in his wrist.
Another good way to help your toddler to develop his fine motor skills is to allow him to color and draw. You should make sure to have washable crayons and markers as little ones may not understand that they are only suppose to do this activity on paper. Finger-painting is another activity that you can share with him that will help him to concentrate and focus on using one finger at a time. Both these activities will also allow him to explore his imagination and use any creative talents that he might possibly possess

Toddlers fall asleep with naptime music because these are soothing to them. The following are albums that you can use during naptime.
o My Precious Little One by Rick Springfield [Gomer Records, 2009]
o Late Night Guitar by Tom Salvatori [Salvatori Productions, 2002]
o Precious Baby Vol. 3 by Twin Sisters [Twin Sisters, 2009]

Incorporate music to the daily routine of children. You may start the day with songs like “good morning” and “hello”. In the afternoon, you can sing the “see you tomorrow” or “goodbye” songs. Use music as background during transition of activities and naptime.
Parents should select a daycare which offers music in their curriculum. This is because children, who are exposed to music, receive great benefits in different ways.
Have you ever bought your toddler an expensive new toy, only to discover that he spends more time playing with the box it came in?
Toddlers have an amazing ability to sink into the simple things of life and create worlds from their own imagination. At this magical age, virtually everything is brand new, and we can relax and know that our interaction with our young children, especially through simple, repetitive activities, is enhancing their development and love of learning. The key is to keep it simple and spend lots of time allowing them to explore at their own pace.

Here are some simple and inexpensive activities you can enjoy with your toddler:
Outdoor Activities for Toddlers
Toddlers love to be outside. Often, toddlers will want (and need) time to play freely, but here are some ideas for those times when your toddler wants to engage in play with you:
Blow bubbles. Toddlers love to chase and blow bubbles. They watch in awe as nothing at all turns into something and is then carried away by the breeze. Spillproof containers are perfect for toddlers, especially when they are off chasing their bubble creations. Toddlers love it when you blow bubbles, too. Try counting the bubbles or challenging your child to see how many she can catch.
Watch the clouds. Lie on your backs together and find shapes in the clouds.
Draw with sidewalk chalk. These thick chunks of chalk are perfect for little hands, and they are well suited to a toddler’s fine motor skills, too. Allow your child to create designs of his own creation. Or write your child’s name in block letters and invite him to color them in. You can also draw a wiggly line down the sidewalk for your toddler to walk along. Or make up a story as you walk along the sidewalk about a child who is out for an adventure in the world, and illustrate different parts of your story as you go.
Take a walk in the wide, wide world. A simple walk in the neighborhood will give your toddler an opportunity to become familiar with the world outside her home. As she follows the same route over and over, she will begin to form a concept of her neighborhood. In time, this will bring her comfort that comes from knowing she is “almost home.”

Toddlers Sing Rock n Roll

Toddlers Sing Rock n Roll

Toddlers also love to walk in the woods. All that nature has to offer, such as rocks, sticks, and leaves, are marvelous entities to be held and explored. If you take the time to allow a toddler to explore the woods, you are in for a treat yourself – as well as a lesson in patience. A toddler can watch a simple stream for what can seem like hours. While you walk, put a piece of transparent tape, sticky side out, loosely on your child’s wrist. When she finds small items that she’d like to document her journey, whether its flecks of mica, pretty leaves, or dried pine needles, she can press them on her Nature Bracelet. When she returns home, seal the goodies by placing another piece of tape on top.
Think like a kid. As you enjoy time with your toddler, try to imagine what things look like from his point of view. Toddlers take delight in the simplest things, especially if you do them again and again.

Summer’s almost here and I can hardly wait to fire up that grill and serve up some burgers to my friends and family. Patio parties are as American as apple pie. Tanned kids run through the sprinklers while adults relax with good conversation and a cold beer. Life doesn’t get much better. Here are some ideas to add just the right touches to your parties this year including using an outdoor wreath or two in just the right spot.
Preparing for your next patio party is easier and less costly than you might think. These ideas that won’t cramp your budget and can be used over and over during the summer months and repeated year after year.

Twinkle, twinkle little star – Use twinkle lights (or leftover plain white Christmas lights will do) to bring festivity and warmth to your patio. Hang lights or lanterns from trees. Line your fence or deck rails to create the cozy atmosphere of an enclosed space. Wrap your yard umbrella’s spine and ribs to add light to your food table after the sun has gone down for the night.
Shoo fly, don’t bother me – Be prepared for summer pests, and don’t let them spoil your party. Place citronella candles throughout your party area and especially near the eating tables. Buy pop-up mesh food tents to protect your dinner and treats.
Hey baby, light my fire – A portable fireplace or fire pit is an excellent source of patio ambiance. Before the party, arrange a large platter of marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers and once the sun goes down, let the kids gather ’round for S’mores.
Roses are red, violets are blue – Flowers and plants bring style, sophistication, and a burst of color to your patio. The more the better. Fill in empty spaces on the patio with large pots overflowing with greenery and in-season flowers. Hang baskets from awnings and deck rails. Place outdoor wreaths on the tables or hang them from your doors or put on over the fire pit. An outdoor wreath can add just the right touch to those special areas. Consider purchasing artificial plants and silk flowers for their hypoallergenic qualities, exceptionally lifelike appearance, and extremely low maintenance. Especially if you entertain often, spending a few dollars more upfront is a wise and well spent long term investment.

Get out there and enjoy summer to its fullest this year. Spend time and create memories with your loved ones. Even the smallest touches of preparation can make a huge impact on the success of your party or gathering – plus, it’s a great way to show your guests how much they mean to you!
Are you searching for unique baby bedding unlike what you can find at the nearest retail store? However, you do not wish to pay those high prices from the exclusive baby shops at the mall with all the other hassles that go along with shopping such as parking and walking a mile, fighting the crowd, and of course waiting on the weather to clear so you can get out. How to Update a Blu-Ray DVD PlayerIf you want to set up a specific theme idea for the disco birthday party, costumes can add to the fun. You can pick a specific retro decade for your theme and it shouldn’t be too hard to find outfits to fit the mood. Adding karaoke to the mix will involve only a bit of work to find just the right songs to fit the event.
A bit of video editing can turn your child’s disco birthday party into a fun documentary or an “episode” of a popular dance show. Creative editing of the dancers and performers can give you child a memento they can treasure for years.
Children do like to emulate adults so your disco birthday party ideas can range from the most casual of party events or go for an ultra formal event. The main idea is to make sure the fun factor is high. Whether your party is down to earth or a flight of high fantasy, adding the excitement of the dance will have them looking forward to the next birthday party so they can do it all again.

Family road trips are a great and often inexpensive way to spend vacation time with your children. However, they can also be immensely aggravating for the entire family when your children start to get bored and restless. As an avid road warrior and a parent of three young children, I’ve been through numerous ups-and-downs while traveling by car. As a result, I’ve mentally developed a lot of “lessons learned” when it comes to hitting the highway. Here are a few of my tips for helping parents and kids survive – and enjoy – a great road trip.
1. Break up longer trips into small sections. If you can limit your time on the road to 5-6 hours a day, you can save yourself a lot of stress. Getting to your first stop will also give you and your children some time for play and relaxation. Many children can’t sit in a car for hours on end, then go straight to bed in a strange hotel room. So try to stop before you are too tired, so that everyone call relax and have fun before bedtime.
2. If you will be stopping for the night before your final destination, pack the bare minimum for a single night in a separate bag from your main luggage. This way, there’s less to carry into the hotel, and also less stuff to climb over while you’re in your room. When we travel, we pack a pair of pjs and a single change of clothes for each child and minimal toiletries (their toothbrushes are important to remember!) in a duffel bag.

Bob Hope TV Shows Timeless ClassicsIn the past, I have used team points on the board. If a child from one team was too loud, I would simply (without a word) take points away. Or if teams were on task and working correctly, I would add points. Never having to raise my voice was good modeling. Some teachers use a stoplight mechanism that warns of being too loud. Others use colored cards that are flipped. Each teacher has his or her own method. As long as it’s consistent, it will serve its purpose.
One other way I monitored the noise level was too “be cool” in every sense of the word to my young students. I had an iPod and a docking station. How many teachers are that cool? I actually added student-appropriate music to my iPod that I organized into play lists. (Not a good idea to have the students jamming out to “Baby Got Back.) The student play lists were separated into slow school songs, holiday songs, and fun school songs. If I needed a quick brain break, I could hit the fun school songs list and a Kidz Bop or Disney tune would play and we would do a fun dance move with it for a minute or so. But, most of the time, I played music from the slow school songs play list. It included classical-type music that would not distract the students from the task at hand. I instructed my class that if I could not still hear the music, they would return to their seats to do independent work and the music would be shut off. Being that music was such a novelty for them, they really kept the noise to a minimum.
I have gotten to the point now that I have a hard time concentrating when it is dead quiet with students working. Of course there were times that I did keep it completely quiet (practice tests for the state achievement tests was one of those times), but even during most curriculum related paper and pencil assessments, the music softly played in the background. It really made the room inviting and warm instead of sterile and cold. Plus, the students thought I was the coolest teacher ever!

2010 American Music AwardsThe Spanish language is an integral part of family life, and 32.2 million families speak Spanish in the home. We find Texas leading the nation with 29% of residents speaking Spanish at home. Twenty-two states now report that their largest minority group is Hispanic: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wyoming.
Why is this important to know and impart to your children? Because the truth is we live in a very global society and it is our responsibility as parents and as educators to bring an appreciation and understanding of others’ cultures and languages into the lives of our young children.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect opportunity to introduce children to the language and culture that surrounds them every day in their homes, preschool, daycare and elementary school setting. Research shows that children who learn a second language, even before they have mastered their own, are better readers, and that puts them on the path of academic success.
For National Hispanic Heritage Month, there are many activities that will bring the message of understanding, unity and commonality as all ethnic groups raise their voices in song and fun. Read on to find four that focus on food, fitness, language and arts and crafts.

Food is an integral part of Latin American life. Children learn about maracas, an instrument from our Hispanic friends. In an activity where children make their own maracas and celebrate birthdays with a bilingual version of the Happy Birthday song.
Repetition and fun are the keys to learning. When you add a little rhythm and a lot of motion the learning then becomes magical for our young children.
The best gift a parent can give their child is the ability to speak a second language, like Spanish. The best time to teach a new language, like Spanish, is when a child is a toddler. Teaching a second language has been proven to not only strengthen a child’s ability in their first language, but it also:
Leads to higher scores on standardized tests when they’re older
Better retention of language
Better memory
And many more benefits.
To understand why “toddler time” is the best time to learn a second language, it’s important to go over how a first language is acquired. Think about when your child was born. Obviously, they couldn’t speak any language, and going through formal language training with them would be a waste of time. But, after about two years, your child was conversational in their first language!
How did this happen? Through the process of language immersion. The child’s brain is wired to, essentially, solve puzzles at such a young age. This is why children, before their teens, are able to pick up on patterns and learn new processes very easily. This ability is at its strongest from ages 0-5, and then slowly goes down from 6-12.

The best way to give your child the benefit of a second language is to take advantage of this brain development time, and start when they’re toddlers. Simply follow the same “language immersion” process that you inadvertently used to teach them their first language!
Instead of asking your child if they want to eat an orange, ask them if they want to eat a “naranja”. Sprinkle the Spanish language throughout their every day lives. See if you can get a baby sitter or nanny or who speaks Spanish, and will only speak Spanish when they are around your toddler.
If you don’t know any Spanish yourself, don’t worry! You can pick up enough useful phrases and words in the language within about two weeks that you can use to start benefitting your toddler right away.
The best time to teach Spanish to a child is when they’re a toddler. Take advantage of this age and help your child grow to their best potential. Good luck!
For parents, finding the perfect Christmas gift for their toddlers can be quite challenging. After all, there are many, many gifts in the market today. Actually, it would be short of amazing if parents can find the perfect gift in just a matter of hours, whether in a brick-and-mortar store or from an online store.
While toddlers love toys, parents would want their children to learn while they play. However, not all toys can be fun and mentally stimulating at the same time.

Iconic Fancy Dress CostumesThe vehicle came to symbolize the carefree spirit of the beach crowd in the early 60s. Dune buggys were a common sight sloshing through the sand dunes of Southern California and Florida also the desert precinct such as Mexico’s Baja California and parts of California’s Mojave Desert. Crafted out of fiber glass, these early custom designed cars featured a rounded and squat appearance devoid of any flat lines. More than often these were the VW bug which was stripped down their engines tuned up for more power and fitted with larger tires with thick treads for traversing the sands. Most of the dune buggys had their rear tires bigger than the front ones.
There was a reason for selecting the VW Bug for modification; the rear mounted engine meant that once the body has been stripped down there is an enormous improvement in traction. Dune buggys are prone to flipping over; hence there is a safety roll bar in place which prevents the occupants from being crushed in the event of a rollover. These vehicles can be highly versatile when it comes to utility; they serve as surfboard haulers on the beach, off road competitor, sleek street roadsters from impressing the town-folks and of course back-road bushwhackers during those expedition trips. Their weird and kooky design was redemption for souls looking for some spirited adventure, coupled with dazzling colors and sparkling chrome, these left the Corvettes and Pontiacs in the dust.

Dune Buggys also let people be their own automobile designer, create and design their own car and do things their way. The earlier dune buggys came in an array of dazzling colors and paint jobs, everything from purple, turquoise, lime green and Rickie Tickie Sticke flower decals, all of which complimented the happy-go-lucky nature of this vehicle. However, many of the newer ones sport an aggressive and meaner look, an indication of the widespread popularity of dune buggy races. Famed dune buggies in pop culture include the Wonderbug from The Krofft Supershow, Big Jim’s Dune Devil, Banana Split’s Banana Buggy and Barbie’s Sun ‘n Fun Buggy. The pop culture image of dune buggys took a drastic turn when it was publicized as the favorite method of transportation for the Manson family during their notorious journey through the jagged terrains of California’s Death Valley.
The Problem:
More and more teams are being asked to do more with less and find creative solutions to problems. Facilitators and team leaders are often encouraging teams to “think outside the box”, but how do you actually do that?
Consider these suggestions….

Consider a change of scenery. It’s amazing how much people open up and see issues differently outside the confines of their normal environment. One project manager felt that her team “hit a wall” on a difficult issue so she decided to take the small group across the street to continue the conversation outside over banana splits (at an ice cream shop with outdoor seating). The change of scenery had an amazing impact on the group. Almost immediately, conflict (which was stifling creative thinking and progress) subsided – after all, who can’t open up over a really gooey banana split!
Ask each person to document their ideas silently first before allowing group discussion. Different team members will often approach the issue from a different perspective and provide a wide array of interesting ideas IF given the chance to form their own ideas before being influenced by others. Once the individual ideas have been documented, use the round robin technique to elicit one idea from each attendee then discuss them all.
Conduct an initial brainstorming session about a completely crazy topic prior to the session on the real topic. In order to get their creative juices flowing, facilitators will often conduct a 10 minute idea generation activity. Activities might include challenging individuals to list as many uses as they can think of for a lemon or challenging small groups to use a bag of pennies to come up with a team logo that represents the team’s mission. The point is to get individuals focusing on being creative and not worrying about judgment.
Reward crazy ideas. Consider establishing a “prize” for the craziest idea of the day. After a while, the team will get the message that during the idea generation phase, “crazy” is good!
Use the excursion technique where the facilitator shows the team an image (e.g. marching band, pineapple, surfer in the ocean) and asks the group to write down observations then link those to potential ideas related to the problem/issue at hand.
